Scholarships Awarded

The East Hampton Athletic Hall of Fame Association presented scholarships to a pair of deserving local student-athletes at the organization’s first annual awards banquet Sunday, June 11 at the East Hampton Community Center.

East Hampton High School seniors Jana Barmasse and Chris Gliha were each the recipient of $250 as an acknowledgement of their outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments throughout their high school careers. Barmasse, who will attend Penn State University in the fall, was a four-year all-conference track and cross country performer who also ranks in the top ten of her graduating class. Gliha, an honors student, is an all-state track performer and was named all-conference for the state runner-up soccer team as a senior. He will attend Central Connecticut State in the fall and will be a member of the track and field team.

The East Hampton Athletic Hall of Fame Association was founded in the spring of 2006 and intends to honor and acknowledge outstanding athletic accomplishment by town residents. The first class of inductees is scheduled to be enshrined in the fall of 2006, with nominations from the public to be accepted in the coming weeks.

Memberships in the association are available, with dues collected for the benefit of the scholarship fund. To request a nomination packet or more information on the association, please email ehahof@sbcglobal.net.
